Privacy Policy

1. Data Collection

When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Apple, we receive only the information you choose to share. All scanned product data and ingredient history is stored locally on your device — we do not upload or store your scan data on any server.

2. Camera & Photos

Scope uses your device camera and photo library solely to scan and read product ingredient labels. Images are processed entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework for text recognition. Images are never uploaded to external servers.

3. Cloud AI Services

When on-device AI (Apple Intelligence) is unavailable, ingredient names — text only, not images or personal data — may be sent to third-party AI services (Anthropic Claude or OpenAI) for safety analysis. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests. You can configure or disable cloud AI in the app's settings.

4. In-App Purchases

Scan credit purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information.

5. Data Storage

All scan history and product data is stored locally on your device. Account information is stored in your device's local storage. We do not maintain external databases of user data.

6. Tracking & Advertising

Scope does not track you across apps or websites. We do not use any advertising frameworks, analytics SDKs, or third-party tracking tools. We do not sell, share, or monetise your personal data.

7. Data Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile section within the app. Uninstalling the app also removes all data from your device.
